First things first...

Well to start you must know that I'm a woman in my early 20's I just graduated from college and am now working in the broadcast industry, which means my life is pretty crazy right now. I have a boyfriend who thinks this is a crazy idea but I think he is secretly excited about the idea of food being made for him. I lived with my parents before I went to college and my mom never really let my sister and I in the kitchen. She says now she wishes she had let us do more but at the time the idea of cleaning up the mess after we were done was enough to say no. The apartment I am living in right now doesn't have a dishwasher so I have to clean everything by hand and I agree with the decision my mother made when I was little...the clean up isn't worth it. So like most people my age I don't cook much...tend to eat out, eat frozen dinners, anything you can microwave and well you get the idea.

The other night I watched the movie "Julie and Julia" which came out in 2009 and if you haven't seen it the movie is about a women going through and cooking all of Julia Child's recipes in her first cook book and then blogging about it. So no I know this is not an original idea but it inspired me to start cooking and this way I can at least keep track of what recipes I should or shouldn't try to make when my boyfriend's parents come for dinner.

However, unlike the movie I will not be using Julia Child's book because to be honest I don't think I would like most of the foods in the book. And in today's Internet world I don't hear of too many people using cook books any more, so instead of using a cook book I am going to use recipes from Allrecipes.com. I will go through and only use recipes off of that page and nothing else and I will blog about everything!

I will tell you:
  1. I will tell you all the good and the bad with each recipe I do.
  2. I will include the recipe and the changes I would suggest making.
  3. I will include the real time it actually takes a normal person to make it.
  4. I will try to describe the taste
  5. I will add pictures of the final product after a normal person tries to make it, cause let's face it, unless your a pro, it will never look the same as the picture and I want to know if I am going to have to use the famous phrase, "It tastes better then it looks"
  6. I will include the price of ingredients and the places I bought them because lets face it, I'm working my first job out of college and well, I'm poor, so how much a recipe is going to cost me is one of the most important things!
There is no time line like in the movie since Allrecipies.com is always adding but I promise to have at least one each week.

Well I guess that's it for now...wish me luck!
