Recipe #13 Beef Stroganoff

Another recipe from good ol' mom! :) Lets give this a try...she says she stopped making it because my sister and I hated it so lets see if our taste buds have changed!

Ingredients

1 1/2 cups sliced onion (2 medium)

1/4 cup veg oil

1/2 pound mushrooms sliced

2 pounds hamburger

2 tablespoons flour

3/4 pounds tomatoes (1 12 ounce can)

1 1/2 teaspoons salt

1/4 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup red wine

cooked rice or noodles to put mixture over when done


Directions

Saute' onions in oil for 10 min, then add mushrooms and cook, when cooked put in a bowl and set aside.

Save remaining oil in pan to brown meat slowly and thoroughly.

Sprinkle meat with flour and stir until well-blended.

Add tomatoes to the meet - cut into small chunks if fresh.

Add salt, pepper and Worcestershire sauce.

Cover and simmer slowly for 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

Add reserved sauteed mushrooms and onion, sour cream and wine.

Simmer another 1/2 hour.

Serve over noodles.
